The Hoover Scholarship Foundation was created by the children of Robert and Celestia Hoover. Born during the Great Depression and living in abject poverty, they never had the opportunity to attend college themselves. Yet, they ensured that all three of their children became college graduates. Mr. and Mrs. Hoover became mentors to countless young people whose lives were in shambles and encouraged many of them to also pursue higher education. Their children want to partake in the same efforts to support students pursuing higher education.
Our mentorship programs are based in a small-group setting that provide 6th-12th grade students with close-knit support involving their school and home lives. Mentors meet weekly with their groups to build relationships with each student and aid in their efforts to complete school and make healthy decisions.
Our team of presenters currently teach The Empowered Program curriculum in 9 different school districts in Central Arkansas, with classrooms ranging from 6th-9th grade. The curriculum covers character traits, goal setting, job readiness, healthy relationships, and preparedness for future aspirations.
Parenting Forums are our newest avenue of influence, geared toward the support and guidance of parents. Each month, we gather to discuss topics involving the oppositions students face in today's world and the ways parents can intervene and create successful moments for their children.
